REDCLIFFE CANNABIS CLINIC-icon

Holistic health focuses on nurturing the mind, body, and spirit to achieve overall well-being. It's one of the fastest-growing areas of alternative medicine, and it's becoming more widely accepted around the world, for good reasons. Where most medicine seeks to treat specific ailments and isolated symptoms or conditions, holistic health looks at the whole person. Through this approach, holistic health can have a significant impact on overall well-being.

Understanding Holistic Medicine

People's needs are complex and go far beyond simply feeling physically healthy. Targeting just one aspect of health limits what you can achieve, especially when you consider the unique situations of each and every person. Holistic health focuses on four main areas to ensure every part of your overall health is covered:

Physical Health: Assessing physical symptoms, medical history, diet, exercise habits, and lifestyle choices.

Mental Health and Emotional Well-being: Exploring psychological factors, stress levels, emotional patterns, thought processes, and coping mechanisms.

Social and Environmental Factors: Considering the quality of relationships, social support systems, work-life balance, living environment, and exposure to toxins or pollutants.

Spiritual Wellbeing: Recognising the importance of meaning, purpose, values, belief systems, and connection to something greater than oneself.

How Holistic Health Care Is Used To Treat Conditions

When you hear "holistic health", you might be thinking of strange healing techniques, off-beat medicines in unlabelled jars and eccentric holistic doctors with crazy hair. But you'd be wrong! Holistic care providers often prescribe a wide range of clinically approved therapies, including surgery, pharmaceuticals, exercise plans, counselling and more. The difference between conventional medicine and holistic medicine is that holistic health doesn't shy away from some more alternative treatment options, such as naturopathy or medical cannabis. When discussing your situation with a holistic health professional, they may ask you about pain and illness. However, they will usually ask about things like stress, depression, anxiety, and more, giving them a well-rounded view of your health. From here, they can treat every part of you, caring for the whole person.

Alternative Medicines

Holistic health practitioners often use alternative medicines to provide additional support. Examples include acupuncture, yoga, aromatherapy, herbal remedies, massage therapy, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). While many of these treatments have their roots in ancient practices, they are now being studied by modern science and proven effective for a wide range of conditions.
